The best things about living in Kirkwood
As a “transplant” to Kirkwood, my husband and I have fallen in love with this town. I am originally from St. Charles and my husband is originally from St. Louis Hills. When looking to find a home, we met in the middle, not knowing much about Kirkwood.
Now, 6 years later, we have completed the renovation of our home and built a business in the downtown Kirkwood area. In addition, we plan to move soon and hope to find “our forever home” in this town.
Here are a few things I love about Kirkwood:
It has a high walking score.
We love taking our dog and baby for walks. Especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings, it’s so nice to be able to walk to breakfast. We will either grab a cup of coffee and breakfast from Kaldi’s while enjoying the patio, or stop in at Strange Donuts on our way to the market.
The variety of places to eat out!
We love trying new food and Kirkwood has so many choices. From Dewey’s Pizza, Billy G’s BBQ, Amigo’s Mexican, to the new Winfield’s…lots of options for any tastes!
The family friendly environment.
Kirkwood is the ideal place to raise a child, or at least entertain a child. There is a great park, the Magic House, the train station, activities at the local library and events throughout the holidays. The Halloween walk and the Santa visits are the best!
The free activities offered to the community.
During the summer, there are several downtown Kirkwood concerts in the plaza. In the fall, there is the Green Tree Festival, which includes a parade, wine garden/music, and arts and crafts booths.
I have always loved my hometown of “St. Louis” and now, Kirkwood is like my secret little town in my beloved big city!
